Top 5 Hottest Motorcycle Views! | Contacts Manufacturer Supplier ...

We all love a great motorcycle scene and definitely the secret of the character lay together with it. The leather clad, large (no doubt) attractive person atop any one of the automotive industries? leading dare-devil products just oozes cool, brutal and sexy. Here are the Top 5 motorcycles and their figures that can be certain to get your heart racing on and off the bike. Not for me to reject anyone Wild Hogs is the action film that displays the Harley Davidson effectively and for those of you who like a more adult personality this might be the feel-good film for you. The household category with this film follows a number of four middle-aged friends because they attempt a journey to see how it feels to be a ?actual motorcycle .? The Harley Davidsons through this feature range from the XL1200C Sportster Custom, FXSTS Springer Softail, a typical Black Fatboy and the almighty Screaming Eagle Fatboy which luckily intended that a priority incorporated motorcycle servicing in Scotland. The coolest films with an in the 1990?s were certainly Terminator 1 and 2. Terminator 1 released in 1990 portrayed figure Sarah Conner being chased on a scooter by the Terminator itself on a Terminator 2 and 750 left as Arnie rode a Harley Davidson Fatboy audiences speechless. For traditional chase scenes and the hottest program lines ever including ?I need your clothes, boots and your motorcycle?, the Terminators? are the one to watch.Classic indie video The Motorcycles Diaries features a 500cc single cylinder Norton bike, nicknamed ?The Almighty One .? Set from the backdrop of an landscape, The Motorcycle Diaries is dependant on an actual quest shown within schedules that were held by two friends. The principal figure Ernesto ?Che? Guevara sailed across South America for more than 500 miles along with his buddy Alberto Granado before ?Che? became a guerrilla leader.Arguably among the greatest bike movies actually to possess struck our displays is the chase scene in the 1963 basic, The Great Escape. Doing his own stunts, bouncing over barbed wire and the famous final riding scene saw attractive, cheeky Steve McQueen riding an undercover TT specific 650 Triumph, which built over for the picture appeared as if a war-time BMW.Lastly, is the classic tale of a fighter pilot who represents a character named ?Maverick? in an aggressive naval college recruiting center. Yet another of the great cyclists within this variety, Tom Cruise models about riding a Kawasaki GPZ750R through the entire movie and there are certainly some passionate scenes in this one for the women too.So there you have it, the product of the motorcycle plant, I wonder if any of them are likely to need motorcycle maintenance, Aberdeen looks a bit past an acceptable limit to go given that most of them reside in America.. Perhaps I should execute an UK only list next time.

Yesterday's Complextions: Reflextions of Complicated Emotions ...

My husband?s grandmother was waiting for us as we pulled up to the car port of her senior living community.? Still pretty spry for her 90+ year old body she is always elegantly adorned in sharp contrast with the family matriarch who quietly lies dying in her home twenty minutes to the south.? Dressed in a vibrant purple blouse with white capris, her matching purse hung over the front of her walker as she quickly made her way to the car, seeming chipper and thankful for company and the opportunity to go on an outing.? As we drove away my eyes turned back to towards the funeral home across the street, cars filled the parking lot and people filed out.? I found it eerily symbolic of the reason for our trip.

As we drove the same road I had traveled just last week after June?s funeral, grandma told us stories from her youth, explaining that before her family moved into town she had to trim the lantern wicks every single day to keep them from smoking and soiling the house.? She described the way that she ran from room to room turning switches on and off and flushing the toilet when they moved into their home in the town that had electricity and indoor plumbing.? She reminisced about the covered wagon rides that served as the school bus in the olden days and the way they were so bumpy from the rocks in the dirt roads.?? She said that in the winter the bed of the wagon was lined with hay meant to insulate your feet from the frigid air while the wheels were replaced with? wooden skis allowing the wagon to glide along swiftly in the fallen snow.? She made meme giggle when she let out an uncharacteristic ?God Damn It? as she? described the ?school bus driver? and the way he?d swear at the kids and wen she told the story of how she and her siblings tipped over an outhouse one year as a Halloween prank, forfeiting their ability to celebrate it again for several years.? I enjoyed the drive, savoring each words of her stories, both for my children to hear, but also for the appreciation of the life and experiences she was willing to share.

We were headed to a family gathering for her daughter, my husband?s Aunt Bev who, several months ago was diagnosed with Stage 4 ovarian cancer.? The cancer has already spread to several other spots and she is scheduled for a surgery this week.? As we drove I wondered what it was like for this woman, who is approaching a century of life to be traveling to a gathering of love and support that really was much more likely a final good bye for her child.

As we approached the town and crossed over a marsh like part of the mountain river, my mind retraced the many times I?d traveled this route as a child with my parents to visit my own grandmother.?? Visiting this town is often a painful reminder of the absence of my parents and family in my own life and the reasons for that current void.?? While most days I can busy myself with my current life and focus on the good things that I have, the aching echoes of the past were in the forefront of my conscience, creating a feeling of tension and anxiety to trickle through my veins.? Memories flooded into me and I struggled to keep from screaming out in rage before arriving at the fire hall that was our destination.

?BINGO!?? we all yelled, instead of ?surprise? because Aunt Bev?s love of bingo made it the perfect decoy reason for her to enter hall where a crowd of several dozen people waited in eager anticipation for her arrival.?? The moment she entered the room her face turned crimson and a wave of emotion and tears spilled out of her as she realized her closest family and friends had gathered here for her.? I watched as her daughters struggled not to cry as they embraced her and sat across from her husband, who in his own gruff way, was undoubtedly touched by that moment, struggling with the awkwardness of trying to be stoic but yet knowing his wife was dying.? I had to fight back my own swell of emotions as? I watched as her mother embrace he in a large and uncharacteristically genuine hug, smiling, sharing her affection.? I wondered what Grandma was thinking and feeling knowing that could be one of the last chances she got to touch and hold her daughter.?? The moment was beautiful in its morbid poignancy.

I had never been at the fire hall before but I knew that some where on the walls hung some sort of reference to my own grandfather, Henry Smith.? Dying in the late 1950?s, I never got to meet him, but I?ve often heard stories that he was a kind and respectable man who perished while fighting a fire during the time he was the fire chief.? I struggle to explain why this felt so profound to me, except to say that my family heritage is so clouded by embarrassment and shame. Grandpa?s life and his death has always felt like the bright and shining bit of hope that I could some how rise above the shadows of the violence and madness that have been bequeathed to me.? I gradually made my way around the room scouring the plaques until I found the one that said ?Past Fire Chiefs? and there it was.? Engraved upon a simple tag? it? read ?Henry Smith: 1957-1959.??? A brief two years was all he had until his life had ended.? Then I made my way to a corner in the back of the room where there hung a 1957 photo with portraits of each fire man. ? It was not long before I found him because I knew what I was looking for, as the same portrait hangs on the wall of my mother?s home.? I stood and stared at it for a few moments, trying to figure out what emotion I was feeling when I realized that I have his nose.?? Perhaps the significance of the realization would be more apparent if I shared the fact that my husband has often said that the first thing he noticed about me when we met decades ago, was my ?cute little nose that just barely stuck out beneath my ski goggles.?? My husband who spent the entire drive to the fire hall grimacing in pain, hardly speaking a word, and radiating his hurt and anger as he struggled to contain his emotions all present because of things I?ve done.

I felt? and feel so alone as my brain struggles to comprehend all the emotions that swirled around and in me yesterday.? I was reminded of my grief for June as I drove the same road that I had after her funeral the week before for the purpose of greeting an Aunt who is dying of cancer, while transporting her mother, knowing the woman may never see her child again, while desperately wanting my children to remember fondly their interactions with their Great Grandmother before she dies herself because I never had a chance like that because my childhood was traumatic and abusive , while watching as my husband struggle with some intense emotional pain that is entirely my fault, while driving to my mother?s home town, where I was reminded of the fact that I?ve been estranged from my family for several months because of their insanity and abuse which leaves me with a constant void that just simply always aches,? to enter a fire hall where a picture of my grandfather, who I never met, and who I?ve always thought was my only link to sanity, hung on the wall when I realize that I look like him.

I so badly wanted to reach out to my grandfather, to find some shred of hope and dignity to cherish, but grasping for it felt like I needed to reach across a blazing fire and that there was no way to reach it without getting burnt.?? I feel so desperate for some sort of connection to fill the void within me for the days where the ache of absence of my family hurts more than the damage from their madness. I am just confused by all of this and am frozen in this moment because of the complexity of this.

The Personal Costs of Financial Stress | Trig Life Services Blog

The following is a guest by Josh Wolberg, Director of Personal Finance and Wellness Programs at Channel Financial. Channel Financial is an independent?retirement plan?consulting and wealth management firm.

One of my favorite quotes is from Benjamin Franklin: ?an ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure.?

The wisdom of this quote has been borne out by the progress being made by wellness programs to prevent illnesses before they occur as opposed to waiting for medical conditions to develop and then treating the illness.? One of the core drivers of overall well-being that has been largely underappreciated are the effects personal financial stress can have on our health.? There is a growing body of research linking financial stress to dramatic effects in all areas of life.

If we focus just on the health effects on financial stress, people with high financial stress experience twice as many heart attacks, nearly three times the migraines/headaches, and over five times the rate of severe depression and anxiety.? Plus, there are other non-health effects of financial stress, such as personal relationship difficulties, distraction and decreased engagement at work, etc.

The Health Effects of High Financial Stress:

Source: AP-AOL Health Poll: Debt Stress: The Toll Owing Money Takes on the Body.

It?s one thing to be aware of the health consequences of financial stress, but doing something about it is a separate issue. ?We need to focus on practical ways we can reduce financial stress and begin to create financial stability.? Here are some first steps you can take:

Goal:? Start tracking your spending and create a budget.? Much of financial stress comes from living paycheck to paycheck.? The most important step in reducing your financial stress is spending less than you make, regardless of how much you make.? Can you think of a professional athlete or celebrity who gets paid millions of dollars per year and still went bankrupt?? Most of us can think of several.? This just shows you that it doesn?t matter how high your income is, you will be financially stressed if you spend more than you earn.

Potential Action Steps:

  • Sign up for a free web service such as Mint.com or Mvelopes.com to track your spending and create a budget.
  • Adjust your expenses to create a budget that allows you to free up a portion of your income each month.
  • Use this monthly freed up cash flow to pay down high interest debt and build an emergency fund with 3-6 months of living expenses.

Goal:? Become more knowledgeable about personal finance.? We spend most of our adult lives coping with complex financial decisions, yet most of us have received virtually no formal instruction in personal finance to prepare us for these challenges.

Potential Action Steps:

  • Ask your employer if they provide any personal financial resources such as a consultation with a qualified professional or financial education courses.
  • Sign up for a community college course on personal finance.
  • Go to the library or a book store to find books on personal finance.? Ask the librarian or book store employee for recommendations.

This is by no means a comprehensive list, but it is a good place to start.? Ask your employer if they have additional recommendations.?Trig users can visit the Work/Life page and click on the Living tab to see other financial resources or call toll-free at 1-855-633-TRIG for live assistance with financial concerns.

Stellar Phoenix Windows Data Recovery

Depending on what task you ask it to perform, Stellar Phoenix Windows Data Recovery Pro Edition does either an impressively stellar or a woefully earthbound job of bringing lost files back to life like the phoenix in its name. It has plenty of interface glitches, and it was unable to perform some tasks that OnTrack Easy Recovery Professional ($149.99, 4 stars) performed easily, but it was also able to perform some recovery tasks even more smoothly than OnTrack's offering. When you need to recover lost data, you don't need to pay for the software until after it scans your disk to test whether it can retrieve your files. If it displays your lost files in its preview screen, it can almost certainly recover them, and you can then pay for the program online to enable the program's recovery features.

Starting With Stellar
When you start up Stellar Phoenix Windows Data Recovery, it offers a simple menu with three options, Drive Recovery, CD Recovery, and Photo Recovery. The Drive Recovery option is the most powerful, and leads to a full range of recovery methods. You first select the drive where you want to recover data, then choose among four methods: Quick Recovery, Deleted Recovery, Advanced Recovery, and Raw Recovery. The first method takes only a few seconds to scan a drive, the rest take longer. Raw Recovery can take as long as an hour to scan a very large disk. In my tests on an NTFS-formatted hard disk, the Quick Recovery method was enough to recover the deleted files I was looking for, but a disk with a scrambled directory structure would have required the Advanced or Raw methods.

As with rival products, I tested Stellar Phoenix with deleted documents on my hard disk and with a USB key that I had formatted to use as an emergency boot disk but which?before I formatted it?I had used to store backup copies of music files. In each case the program scanned the drive and displayed tree-structured lists of possibly-recoverable files.

Some Expertise Required
Like rival products, Stellar Phoenix requires you to know what you're doing when choosing files from these lists. For example, I searched for a deleted Word file named "Two Broadcasts.docx." The program listed a deleted file named "~$o Broadcasts.docx" but that wasn't the file I wanted?instead, as the file list showed me, it was a 162-byte file probably left behind by Word when I last edited the file. The file I actually wanted to recover was named "$RC9HQRN.docx," as I discovered by highlighting it in the program's list and looking at its content in the program's built-in previewer?an invaluable feature that OnTrack Easy Recovery Professional and Recuva both lack. In both those other programs, I had to save each deleted file to a disk and then open it in Word to see if it was the file I was looking for.

I had a harder time recovering MP3 files from a USB stick that I had reformatted, with the effect that none of the MP3 files were visible in Windows Explorer and apparently did not exist. OnTrack Easy Recovery Professional took ten minutes to scan my 8GB USB stick and let me recover hundreds of MP3 files to a different drive. OnTrack even displayed each file by its original name and let me open it in my default music-player software to make sure it was the file I wanted. In contrast, Stellar Phoenix took almost four hours to scan the same disk, and then listed nine music files as recoverable. Unfortunately, when I recovered those files and tried to listen to them, they all turned out to be corrupt and unplayable. Recuva also couldn't recover any music files from my USB stick, but at least it didn't claim to recover them.

Feature Light
But this doesn't mean that Stellar Phoenix might be the program you choose for recovering files from the NTFS disk in your computer. Stellar Phoenix includes a feature that lets you save recovered files to an FTP server instead of to a local disk. Unfortunately, most modern FTP servers use Secure FTP instead of the traditional FTP supported by Stellar Phoenix, so this feature may have only limited use in the real world. The program does include some other advanced features that match similar features in OnTrack Easy Recovery Professional, for example a feature that creates a full image of a drive you can try to restore data from the cloned copy?a feature that comes in handy if the drive is getting physically flaky and might not be accessible at all at a later time.

A feature that worked less well was an advanced option that is supposed to show the S.M.A.R.T. status of a disk?what the disk reports about its own health. The program reported that the S.M.A.R.T. feature was disabled on my hard disk, but in fact it isn't disabled, and other utilities showed a full S.M.A.R.T. status report.

All in all, Stellar Phoenix Windows Data Recovery is well worth a try when you're trying to recover lost files from your desktop or laptop and you don't have any recovery software already on hand. Just download the program, let it scan your disk, and pay for it if it can display your lost file in its preview pane. You can't lose, and you can certainly gain. But if you're preparing in advance for possible data disasters, you'll probably prefer OnTrack Easy Recovery Professional.

Pastors at 27-year-old Matt McQuinn's funeral in his western Ohio hometown of Springfield spoke Saturday of the senselessness of the July 20 massacre in Aurora, Colo., that killed 12 and wounded 58 others, and of McQuinn's sacrifice.

McQuinn saved his girlfriend's life by diving in front of her and taking three bullets. He had just moved to Colorado last fall.

At Jessica Ghawi's funeral in her hometown of San Antonio, mourners focused their remarks on the 24-year-old aspiring sports journalist's energy and life.

Ghawi was a pretty, blue-eyed redhead who had survived a shooting at a Toronto mall only to be killed at the Aurora theater.

Romney seeks lift in Israel after London miscues

By Garrett Haake, NBC News

?

LONDON -- Mitt Romney will try to rebuild momentum for his closely watched foreign trip Saturday when he arrives in Israel, where the presumptive GOP nominee will look to escape two days' worth of negative headlines plaguing his campaign in London.

Romney will arrive in Jerusalem with hopes of finding surer political footing than in London. He spent most of his two days in the United Kingdom's capital trying to clean up a controversy spurred by his comments to NBC doubting London's preparation for the Summer Olympic Games. He and his wife Ann attended the opening ceremonies last night.

This will be Romney's fourth visit to Israel, and it's expected to be another whirlwind day of meetings with top officials, including Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu (a friend of Romney's from their days at Boston Consulting Group decades ago), and Palestinian leader Salam Fayyad, whom Romney also knows from previous visits.

Romney will also give a public speech while in Jerusalem ??his first such engagement thus far during his foreign trip ??that is expected to be heavy on praise for America's most important ally in the Middle East, with whom Romney has repeatedly called for the U.S. to "lock arms" on the international stage.

The presumptive GOP nominee has pledged to keep with diplomatic tradition by not criticizing President Obama or his foreign policy while on foreign soil, but in an interview with the Israeli newspaper Hayom (owned by conservative mega-donor Sheldon Adelson), Romney ripped the president for various elements of his policy toward Israel, including the president's call for the Israel to consider returning to its pre-1967 borders, including land swaps with the Palestinians to compensate for disputed territory.

"The president has also spoken of returning to 1967 borders ? they are indefensible. And acting as a negotiator and usurping the primary role played by Israel in negotiating for its own future is not the right course for America to take," Romney told the paper.

Romney also indicated in his interview with Hayom that his primary audience on this trip to Israel was, after all, American voters. In 2008, President Obama carried the Jewish vote with 78 percent of the vote, a lead into which Romney's campaign would love to make inroads.

Former U.S. Ambassador to Israel Martin Indyk explains:

"The context is a political campaign in which there is a sense that because of tensions between Obama and Benjamin Netanyahu the American Jewish vote is up for grabs," said Indyk, who served under Bill Clinton. "In that context its natural that the Republican campaign would seek to emphasize the friendships Romney has in Israel and the problems Obama has had with Netanyahu."

Indyk, who has authored a book on Obama's foreign policy, described Obama's security record on Israel - enhanced Friday by the signing of a new agreement - "impeccable," but said Romney had room to appeal to Israelis and Americans by showing more warmth to Israel than the sometimes cold Obama.

Sure to be on the agenda in Romney's various meetings: the specter of a nuclear Iran, the most pressing security issue to Israel.

"Again, he's got to walk between the raindrops, because while he'll try to draw distinction and claim Obama is weak and he is strong on this issue, he's got to be careful not to give the American voting public the impression if he's president he'll go to war with Iran," Indyk said. ?

Brits rally around the Games after Romney's Olympics gaffe

A fitting start to the Games

LONDON ? The Queen made her acting debut (in a James Bond scene, no less), Mary Poppins outdueled Lord Voldemort?s evil magic, the flame was lit in truly unique fashion ? by seven unknowns, no less ? and the 2012 Olympic Games were open.

Even the rain stayed away except for the briefest of showers as London, the first city to host an Olympics on three occasions, set off 17 days of sporting celebration Friday on what can only be described as a resounding victory.? It wasn't Beijing and it didn't try to be. Four yours ago we saw one of history's biggest displays of national pride, but London beat its own chest in a more pleasantly understated way. (Reuters)(Reuters)

There was a peculiar sweetness about being a British person in this place and on this night. The United Kingdom can no longer fool itself that it is not one of the world's most important nations but could take comfort in still being able to welcome the world to its doorstep and put on one heck of a show in the process.

Producer Danny Boyle, he of "Slumdog Millionaire" directorial fame, pieced together a lavish, epic and masterful show that blended humor with history, music with majesty, and was met with almost universal approval. Boyle wanted to portray a graceful boast, showing off the best of Britain with pride but without a trace of stuffiness or arrogance.

The iconic moment when the cauldron burst into flame may not have been to everyone?s taste ? it was lit by the hands of a group of young athletes nominated by sporting legends rather than a member of athletic royalty ? but if that was the serious stuff, earlier there had been no shortage of fun. That said, of everything that happened in Stratford on this evening, the sight of Bond actor Daniel Craig and his sketch and then fake parachute jump from a helicopter with the Queen took some beating.

[ Photos: Best and worst country uniforms ]

But there were touching moments. A montage honored the deceased who could not be at the Olympic Stadium on its big opening night but, lamentably, it did not recognize the victims of Munich in 1972.

Nevertheless, Britain got its pride back here ? and how. A perishing economy has hurt the lives and pockets of millions in the U.K., but you wouldn't have thought so at this party and, once again, it was OK to be proud to be British.

"We have hosted the Games three times and each time the world has faced turbulence and trouble," London Olympics chief Lord Sebastian Coe said. "Each time we have come through."

[ Related: Michelle Obama meets Team USA ]

It was one of those moments when a lump in your throat sets in and you don?t quite know why. There was just something in the air, some kind of magic, something very real and perfect and tasteful.

The athletes also felt it. Brazil set a lovely tone by displaying flags that carried its own emblem on one side and the United Kingdom's on the other. The Czech Republic wielded umbrellas just as the skies cleared, once and for all. Usain Bolt pointed his index finger and repeated "number one" as he carried the Jamaican flag, a reminder, if one was needed, that the Olympics are about excellence as well as sentiment. Meanwhile, Kobe Bryant was content to soak up the atmosphere in the middle of the huge pack of American athletes as they formed one of the last teams around the track.

Once the teams had filed into place, the usual course of speeches followed and the lighting of the cauldron was completed, one last blast from Beatles legend Sir Paul McCartney set the event into motion and it was time for competition to begin.

But the first, and perhaps biggest success of all, goes to a host nation that has gotten off to a perfect start. If the Games are to continue as they began, then the world is in for a wondrous treat.

(AP) ? His hair dyed a shocking comic-book shade of orange-red, the former doctoral student accused of killing moviegoers at a showing of the new Batman movie appeared in court for the first time on Monday, but he didn't seem to be there at all.

James Holmes shuffled into court in a maroon jailhouse jumpsuit with his hands cuffed ? the first look the world got of the 24-year-old since the Friday shooting that left 12 people dead and 58 others injured at a packed midnight screening of "The Dark Knight Rises."

Unshaven and appearing dazed, Holmes sat virtually motionless during the hearing, his eyes drooping as the judge advised him of the severity of the case. At one point, Holmes simply closed his eyes. Prosecutors said they didn't know if he was being medicated.

Throughout the hearing, he never said a word. His attorneys did all the talking when the judge asked him if he understood his rights.

His demeanor, however, angered the relatives of some of the victims of the shooting. Some stared at him the entire hearing, including Tom Teves, whose son, Alex, was killed in the attack. Teves watched Holmes intently, sizing him up.

"I saw the coward in court today and Alex could have wiped the floor with him without breaking a sweat," said Teves, whose son, a physical therapist, dove to protect his girlfriend.

"You shot a 6-year-old. Come on give me a break. You're dressed in full combat gear, immediately surrender. Come on. Pick on some guys who know how to use guns," Teves said.

The hearing was the first confirmation that Holmes' hair was colored. On Friday, there were reports of his hair being red and that he told arresting officers that he was "The Joker." Batman's nemesis in the fictional Gotham has brightly colored hair.

It could not immediately be confirmed if he told officers that he was Batman's enemy, however.

Investigators found a Batman mask inside his apartment after they finished clearing it of booby traps, a law enforcement official close to the investigation said Sunday on condition of anonymity because he was not authorized to speak to the news media.

Holmes, whom police say donned body armor and was armed with an assault rifle, a shotgun and handguns during the attack, was arrested shortly afterward. He is refusing to cooperate, authorities said. They said it could take months to identify a motive.

Holmes, who is being held in isolation at the Arapahoe County detention facility, walked into the courtroom with attorneys and others. He sat down in a jury box, next to one of his attorneys.

His entrance was barely noticeable but relatives of shooting victims leaned forward in their seats to catch their first glimpse of him. Two women held hands tightly, one shook her head. One woman's eyes welled up with tears.

After the hearing, prosecutor Carol Chambers said that "at this point, everyone is interested in a fair trial with a just outcome for everybody involved." Chambers said earlier her office is considering pursuing the death penalty against Holmes.

Chambers said a decision will be made in consultation with the victims' families.

David Sanchez, who waited outside the courthouse during Holmes' hearing, said his pregnant daughter escaped uninjured but her husband was shot in the head and was in critical condition. His daughter was scheduled to deliver her baby on Monday.

"When it's your own daughter and she escaped death by mere seconds, I want to say it makes you angry," Sanchez said. He said his daughter, 21-year-old Katie Medley, and her husband, Caleb, 23, had been waiting for a year to watch the movie.

Asked what punishment Holmes should get if he is convicted, Sanchez said, "I think death is."

Holmes is expected to be formally charged next Monday. Holmes is being held on suspicion of first-degree murder, and he could also face additional counts of aggravated assault and weapons violations. Holmes has been assigned a public defender.

Security at the hearing was tight. Uniformed sheriff's deputies were stationed outside, and deputies were positioned on the roofs of both court buildings.

Police have said Holmes began buying guns at Denver-area stores nearly two months before Friday's shooting and that he received at least 50 packages in four months at his home and at school.

Holmes' apartment was filled with trip wires, explosive devices and unknown liquids, requiring police, FBI officials and bomb squad technicians to evacuate surrounding buildings while spending most of Saturday disabling the booby traps.

Weeks before, Holmes quit a 35-student Ph.D. program in neuroscience for reasons that aren't clear. He had earlier taken an intense oral exam that marks the end of the first year but university officials would not say if he passed, citing privacy concerns.

Also in June, the owner of a gun range in Byers rejected Holmes' membership application of a "bizarre ? guttural, freakish" message on Holmes' voicemail.

As authorities continued to investigate Holmes, Sunday was a day for healing and remembrance in Aurora, with the community holding a prayer vigil and President Barack Obama telling victims' families that "all of America and much of the world is thinking about them."

The pastor for the suspect's family recalled a shy boy who was driven to succeed academically.

"He wasn't an extrovert at all. If there was any conversation, it would be because I initiated it, not because he did," said Jerald Borgie, senior pastor of Penasquitos Lutheran Church. Borgie said he never saw the suspect mingle with others his age at church.

"He had some goals. He wanted to succeed, he wanted to go out, and he wanted to be the best," said Borgie, noting that last spoke with Holmes about six years ago. "He took pride in his academic abilities. A good student. He didn't brag about it."

The shooting was the worst in the U.S. since the Nov. 5, 2009, attack at Fort Hood, Texas. An Army psychiatrist was charged with killing 13 soldiers and civilians and wounding more than two dozen others.

Ernie Els wins stunning Open when Scott collapses

(AP) ? Ernie Els plucked the ball from the hole after one last birdie and heaved it into the grandstand. At the time, it looked like nothing more than a classy gesture by a former British Open champion ? not the next one.

The name on the claret jug was supposed to be Adam Scott, who had a four-shot lead with four holes to play.

But in a shocking turnaround Sunday, Els returned to the 18th green less than an hour later to claim the oldest trophy in golf. Scott joined a list of players who threw away a major.

That was not lost on Els, whose heart sank when he looked over at the 32-year-old Australian.

"Sorry," Els told him. "You're a great player, a great friend of mine. I feel very fortunate. You're going to win many of these."

Scott might not get another chance like this.

After hitting a 3-wood into a pot bunker on the final hole, Scott had one last chance when he stood over a 7-foot par putt to force a playoff. It stayed left of the cup, and Scott dropped into a crouch. Standing off to the side, his chin quivered as the magnitude of the meltdown hit him. Instead, he mouthed one word: "Wow."

Wow, indeed.

Even though Els had gone more than two years without winning, and had thrown away two tournaments in recent months with shaky putting, the Big Easy felt all along that something special was going to happen at this British Open.

And it did ? all because of a collapse by Scott that no one saw coming.

"I know I let a really great chance slip through my fingers today," Scott said.

On a wind-swept afternoon at Royal Lytham & St. Annes that blew away the hopes of Tiger Woods and a handful of others, Scott looked steady as ever by going eight straight holes without making bogey. And that's when it came undone.

"I had it in my hands with four to go," Scott said.

A bogey from the bunker on the 15th cut the lead to three. That was followed by a three-putt bogey on the 16th, where his 3-foot par putt spun in and out of the cup and made the gallery gasp. From the middle of the 17th fairway, he hit a 6-iron that turned left, ran down the slope and took one last bounce in shin-high grass.

"I thought, 'Hold on. We've got a problem here,' " said Graeme McDowell, playing with Scott in the final group.

By then, Els had posted a 2-under 68 with a 15-foot birdie putt on the final hole, a cheer that Scott recognized while playing the 17th. Scott failed to get up-and-down for par from the rough and suddenly was tied.

Els headed to the practice green, where it rarely works out for him. In perhaps the most crushing defeat in a career filled with them, Els was on the putting green at Augusta National in 2004 when Phil Mickelson made an 18-foot birdie putt to win the Masters.

"I just thought, 'I'll probably be disappointed again,' " Els said. "You're not really hoping the guy is going to make a mistake, but you're hoping you don't have to go a playoff, you can win outright. This one was different, because I feel for Adam."

Els, who started the final round six shots behind, wound up with his second British Open ? the other one was 10 years ago at Muirfield ? and fourth major championship at a stage in his career when it looked as if his best golf was behind him.

"Amazing," Els said. "I'm still numb. It still hasn't set in. It will probably take quite a few days because I haven't been in this position for 10 years, obviously. So it's just crazy, crazy, crazy getting here."

The celebration was muted, unlike his other three majors.

"First of all, I feel for Adam Scott. He's a great friend of mine," Els said. "Obviously, we both wanted to win very badly. But you know, that's the nature of the beast. That's why we're out here. You win. You lose. It was my time for some reason."

The wind finally arrived off the Irish Sea and ushered in pure chaos ? a mental blunder by Woods that led to triple bogey on the sixth hole, a lost ball by Brandt Snedeker that took him out of contention and a topped shot that made McDowell, a former U.S. Open champion, look like an amateur.

"I guess my disappointment kind of seems relatively stupid in relation to the guy ... I've just seen a guy lose The Open Championship," said McDowell, who played in the final group of a major for the second straight time.

Nothing was more stunning than what happened to Scott, who closed with a 75.

"I managed to hit a poor shot on each of the closing four holes," Scott said. "Look, I played so beautifully for most of the week. I shouldn't let this bring me down."

Even so, it added another chapter to Australian heartbreak, most of that belonging to his idol, Greg Norman.

Scott was the fourth Australian since the 2007 Masters to lead going into the final round of a major, yet the proud land Down Under remains without a major since Geoff Ogilvy won the U.S. Open at Winged Foot in 2006.

"Greg was my hero when I was a kid, and I thought he was a great role model, how he handled himself in victory and defeat," Scott said. "He set a good example for us. It's tough. I can't justify anything that I've done out there. I didn't finish the tournament well today.

"But next time ... I'm sure there will be a next time and I can do a better job of it."

Already in the World Golf Hall of Fame, the 42-year-old Els joined even more elite company. He became only the sixth player to win the U.S. Open and British Open twice. The others are Jack Nicklaus, Woods, Walter Hagen, Bobby Jones and Lee Trevino.

Woods came undone on the sixth hole when he tried to blast out of a bunker from a plugged lie, stayed in the bunker, and three-putted for triple bogey. Still with an outside chance after a birdie on the 12th, he stuck with his conservative plan of hitting iron off the tee and made three straight bogeys. He closed with a 73 to tie for third with Brandt Snedeker, who also had his share of problems for a 74.

Woods had his best finish in a major since he lost to Y.E. Yang in the 2009 PGA Championship, though he remains winless in the last 17.

"It's part of golf," said Woods, who moves to No. 2 in the world. "We all go through these phases. Some people, it lasts entire careers. Others are a little bit shorter. Even the greatest players to ever play have all gone through little stretches like this."

Els finished at 7-under 273. He failed to qualify for the Masters this year for the first time in nearly two decades, but that won't be a problem now. His win gives him a five-year exemption into the majors.

It was the most shocking collapse at the British Open since Jean Van de Velde took a triple bogey on the final hole at Carnoustie and lost in a playoff. But this was different. It wasn't a last-minute blowup, more of a slow bleed, similar to Jason Dufner losing a five-shot lead to Keegan Bradley in the PGA Championship last year, or Ed Sneed making bogey on the last three holes at the 1979 Masters.

There was just enough wind to make the 206 bunkers at Royal Lytham look a little bit bigger. And as the gusts increased, a calm week turned chaotic.

It started with Woods on the sixth hole, his first triple bogey at a major championship since he lost his ball on the opening hole at Royal St. George's in 2003.

"One yard," he said to his caddie, a measure of the miss. It plugged near the steep wall of a pot bunker.

Instead of chipping to the middle of the bunker, Woods tried to get out with a ferocious swing. The ball smacked into the wall, nearly hit him and wound up near the left wall. He sat on the grass, his left knee (which has gone through four surgeries) flexed underneath him, his right leg extended as he dipped his upper body toward the sand to make a swing. This one also hit the ball, and caromed around and out to the right. From there, he three-putted for a 7.

"The game plan was to fire it into the bank, have it ricochet to the right and then have an angle to come back at it," Woods said. "Unfortunately, it ricocheted to the left and almost hit me."

Just like that, he was seven shots behind. It was the second time this year that one of golf's biggest stars made triple bogey in the final round of a major while in contention. Phil Mickelson made his on the fourth hole at the Masters and never recovered.

Els made a bogey on the ninth to fall six shots behind. All that did was fire him up, and he came home in 32. His 68 is best measured in these terms ? of the last 12 players who teed off in the final round, no one else had better than a 72.

Yet there was one more collapse, in the final hour, and it was the one everyone will remember from this British Open. It's one Scott will somehow need to forget. As winner and runner-up met in a portable trailer before going out to the trophy presentation, Els told him: "Don't beat yourself up."

South Sudanese runner to compete under Olympic flag

LONDON (AP) ? The IOC has cleared a marathon runner born in what is now South Sudan to compete under the Olympic flag at the London Olympics.

The IOC executive board agreed Saturday to allow U.S.-based Guor Marial ? a former refugee ? to take part as an independent athlete.

"The voice of South Sudan has been heard," Marial told The Associated Press. "The South Sudan has finally got a spot in the world community. Even though I will not carry their flag in this Olympic Games, the country itself is there. The dream has come true. The hope of South Sudan is alive."

Marial has no passport and is not represented by a national Olympic committee. South Sudan gained independence last year after breaking away from Sudan but doesn't yet have a recognized Olympic body.

Marial moved to the United States as a refugee when he was a child and even though he has permanent residence in the U.S., he isn't yet an American citizen.

That meant he was unable to compete for the United States, South Sudan or Sudan, the IOC said, despite qualifying for the Olympics last year.

IOC spokesman Mark Adams said it was the first case of its kind for the Olympics.

When he was 8 years old, Marial escaped child slavery in a labor camp in Sudan. He is now 28 and lives in Flagstaff, Ariz. ? where he was preparing for training when he heard he was allowed to go to the Olympics.

"I was getting ready to go for a run. Wow. This is so exciting," he said. "It's hard to describe. I'm speechless. The body temperature is up. I have to train like an Olympian now."

The International Olympic Committee said three athletes from Netherlands Antilles also would be allowed to compete under the Olympic flag in London after the group of islands ceased to be an autonomous country.

Marial ran a time of 2 hours, 14 minutes, 32 seconds at the Twin Cities marathon last year, his first official race, to qualify for the London Games. He has improved on that time since.

A U.S. senator from New Hampshire, where Marial went to high school, also lent support to his Olympic bid. Sen. Jeanne Shaheen sent a letter to the IOC appealing for Marial to compete under the Olympic flag.

Marial attended high school in Concord, N.H., after fleeing to the United States. He graduated in 2005, earning an athletic scholarship to Iowa State University and became an All-American in cross country in his junior year.

He declined Sudan's invitation to compete under its flag because he didn't consider himself a citizen of that country. He said he doesn't want to compete for Sudan because he lost 28 family members during civil unrest.

The athlete's birth village is in what is now South Sudan and despite it being a newly independent state, it has struggled to form sporting bodies.

South Sudan was allowed in as the newest member of world football body FIFA in May but hasn't yet joined the Olympic family.

Athletes can take part at a games under the Olympic flag if politics has prevented them from doing so for a country.

At the 1992 Barcelona Games, competitors from Yugoslavia competed under the Olympic flag because of the break-up of that country, which left them with no national team. They didn't march at the opening ceremony but the Olympic flag was raised on their behalf during award ceremonies.

Four athletes from East Timor were allowed in under the Olympic flag in Sydney in 2000 because East Timor wasn't an independent country.

The IOC said this year that Kuwaiti athletes could compete as independents in the London Games after suspending the country's Olympic committee in 2010 because of government interference. They've since lifted the Kuwaiti ban.

Marial said he'll ask his father ? who still lives in South Sudan ? to travel to the nearest city to watch him on TV if he gets to compete at the Olympics.

"Most important is the people of South Sudan. They struggle so much, so if I can accomplish something, I can help," Marial said in an interview with AP on Friday. "That's why every morning, I get up, I put on my shoes and I train."

Quote of the Day: Romney's Small Business Problem | Mother Jones

From Brian Maloney, owner of a trucking company that Mitt Romney visited yesterday, explaining how he built his business:

The government didn?t help ? at all. No tax breaks. No ?Good guy, Brian.? Just hard work did that and a few other dedicated people that came along with me.

I probably don't need to finish this story, do I? In the same way that Joe the Plumber wasn't named Joe and wasn't really a plumber, it turns out that Maloney once took advantage of an industrial revenue bond to move his business to Roxbury, and much of his early success was due to a contract to overhaul city buses.

None of this is a big deal. I imagine Maloney worked his ass off to build his company. Mainly it's just a warning to Romney: when he flits around the country embracing folks who have never relied on the government for a single dime, his team better do a good job of vetting them. Because most likely, all he's going to do is provide the librul media with a lovely, prepackaged set of stories that demonstrate how virtually every small business in America benefits from government programs in one way or another. And that includes one particular small business called Bain Capital. I'll bet someone is working on that story already.

Your stress level can be directly proportional to the amount of debt that you have. Stress can significantly reduce your quality of life. This level of stress can only grow worse as the debts pile up, especially if you have outstanding loans from more than one source. If you?re starting to drown in your debt, it might be time to consider applying for a debt consolidation loan.

A debt consolidation effectively combines all of your preexisting, outstanding debts into one manageable loan. It?s the same debt, just bundled into one payment instead of many, making it significantly easier to handle one payment instead of the several you might currently be keeping track of.

This is welcome news to anyone who has debts from multiple sources (as previously mentioned above) because it removes the necessity of keeping up on due dates and payments. With more due dates comes the higher chance of one being missed in the process of taking care of another. And when more due dates stack up between paychecks, it becomes increasingly more difficult to make your money last.

The tricky things about a debt consolidation loan is just that: it?s still a loan. You?re not getting yourself out of debt, you?re just putting all your debts into one big pot. That being said, don?t get stuck thinking a debt consolidation loan is going to solve you problems with debt.

It?s a great way to help you regain your monetary balance. Juggling loans and payments generally leads to a poor credit score, especially as payments are missed and slip through the cracks. Your credit score represents how well you handle credit, and a poor credit score makes it difficult to finance big-ticket financial ventures down the road.

It?s still a better idea to try to manage your debts yourself if you can. You should only consider using a debt consolidation loan if you?ve exhausted the rest of your options. Instances of possible bankruptcy and foreclosure are a good time to consider debt consolidation. Outside of those two, you should do your best to find another route.

This is why. When your lender buys out your debt, they have to offer you the new consolidated loan at a higher interest rate in most cases. This is how they keep themselves in business. The interest rate, however, will depend on your credit rating just as it would in any other case.

If you choose to apply for a debt consolidation loan, treat it like the clean slate that it is. Don?t fall back into the same cycle of debt that got you into the hole you?re trying to climb out of.
